Welcome! We'd like you to know about the caring way we've provided shelter to families and individuals experiencing homelessness since 1989. You're our 19705th visitor.

Pemi Bridge House

From July, 2005 through December, 2005, Bridge House provided 3,217 bed nights in our new 20 bed facility. We turned away 129 people due to lack of capacity. Of those served during this time period, 42% were children. 87% of the children were under the age of 13 and 18% were under the age of 6.
We need your support and generosity to continue and improve upon our mission.

Meaningful things you can do today to help the homeless...

1
Donate:
Donations of time, money and goods provide basic essential services and support to the individuals and families at Bridge House. Your generosity helps provide food and transportation to access needed benefits, medical appointments, job training and employment. In addition to providing essential services to residents, donations of cash, gift cards and goods assist with overall shelter operations and the provision of case management and advocacy services. All are essential to help our families return to the community, remain independent and prevent recidivism. Click here to donate.

2
Volunteer:
Bridge House depends on volunteers to help out on all levels. Our volunteers work in the office, read to the children, transport residents to appointments, help with job applications, tutor, assist in case management, provide maintenance and grounds work, provide educational groups and write grants. Bridge House depends on a volunteer board of directors who set policy and ensure financial stability. Many board members donate additional time in their specialty areas and provide coverage for staff time off. Whatever your specialty or interest is, there's a place for you at Bridge House.

Speak Out:
Write or call your local, state, and federal politicians to urge their support for programs that protect those who are homeless, prevent future homelessness and put an end to homelessness. Many issues affect the ability to locate and retain affordable housing, livable wages and healthcare. Go to our links page and learn about those issues that not only affect homeless families but a significant percentage of the general population. Attend or sponsor an event:
Bridge House holds several functions a year to raise money for everyday shelter operations and programs.
Look for and plan to attend our upcoming Winnipesauke Wine Festival and Old Home Day scheduled for this summer.
Bridge House also benefits from the many youth groups, scouts and schools who hold fundraisers for the residents.
Local businesses and community groups sponsor events or donate a portion of their profits at designated times of the year, to Bridge House.
